PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
The strategic objective of this project is to enable communities in rural Jordan to reduce water demand through improved management. CBIWDM will promote citizen participation in and between communities and clusters of communities to address water demand and conservation issues. CBIWDM will work in all twelve governorates in Jordan with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), empowering them to create and manage revolving loan funds that support poor rural communities in adopting innovative water demand management solutions. The four immediate objectives of the project are to:
• Build the capacity of 135 Community Based Organizations to implement lending programs that improve community water demand management.
• Establish and oversee an effective and sustainable lending system for community water management activities.
• Support 5 pilot communities to become a demonstration for "Water and Energy Resource management at the Community Level".
• Increase the scale of project impact by raising awareness of lessons learned among government policymakers and donors.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Outreach & Communications Officer will assist the team in the collection, organization and analysis of key data sets including trends in humanitarian need, population movement, supply movement and partner operations. The Outreach & Communication Officer will also work closely with team members to explore ways of improving communications and coordination across Mercy Corps partnerships. With managerial support from the Chief of Party and project team, the Outreach & Communication Officer will ensure that timely and relevant information related to our project activities is available to senior management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintain consistent stock of project profile files and other printed materials for dissemination at events and presentations.
• Developing a good understanding of Mercy Corps projects and communicates these to internal and external audiences.
• Work with program team to collect project information from partners, media, and external stakeholders.
• Assist in the creation of standard reporting templates that will improve and expand collection of key data points throughout the project.
• Assist program staff to communicate with and follow-up with Partner field teams to ensure timely collection of accurate field data.
• Work with Partners to help build capacity on reporting and documentation of all aspects of their field activities.
• Establish realistic information exchange and coordination mechanisms to be shared by Mercy Corps program staff and partner organizations.
• Consistently review all media outlets to identify and package relevant reports of the project
• Develop mapping and other media reflecting Mercy Corps and partner programming and planning.
• Work with program team members to search, identify and assist in the vetting process of potential new partners.
• Assist senior management researching background and contextual information related to regional program expansion.
• Perform other tasks consistent with the position roles and responsibilities as may be requested from time to time by his/her supervisor

WORKS DIRECTLY WITH: Senior Management Team, Finance and the M&E Team
