PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:
Mercy Corps (MC) is a non-profit, non-aligned, secular non-governmental (NGO) humanitarian relief and development organization, registered in the United States and Scotland with offices in more than 40 countries around the world, including Jordan, where the organization has been active in implementation of relief and development programs for more than a decade.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Project Manager is overall responsible for the day to day implementation of the upcoming project focused on response to Syrian refugee crisis in the Northern Jordan. The position will be available pending funding approval. The Project Manager will work closely both with management and support staff (including finance, administration and program) in Amman to ensure the day to day activities are implemented according to schedule, budget and required quality. The Project Manager reports directly to the Deputy Country Director with written and oral activity and budget reports (as defined by the Deputy Country Director). The Project Manager will assist the Senior Management team in outlining a strategic plan for the implementation of this program including identifying target areas/projects, methods of operation for effective programming and maximum results.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. To manage all operations related to the project in according to the work plan, project document and implementation strategy. Troubleshoot, as needed, to prevent disruptions in daily program activities Liaise with the Deputy Country Director as necessary.
2. Coordinate and share information with the senior management team to ensure overall projects targets and donor obligations are being achieved. Troubleshoot on reporting and programmatic needs. Advise supervisor on suggested improvements and changes, as required.
3. Design and conduct training in the areas related to the project activities for staff, communities and project beneficiaries.
4. Ensure close coordination and sharing of information between the various sectors, project staff and program support through regular program meetings and activity plans.
5.. Mobilize communities to participate in the design, implementation and maintenance of projects as well as design viable strategies which are both respectful with the local culture and sensitive towards the population.
6. Provide direct and ongoing supervision and managerial support to all project national staff.
7. Ensure that the project fits into the Jordan strategic plan and provide input into the strategic plan.
8. Provide support for obtaining any permissions or reporting of the project activities required by the Government of the Hashemite kingdom of Jordan.
9. Ensure that monitoring and evaluation, reporting system is developed and implemented for project activities.
10. Provide guidance and technical support to relevant Mercy Corps Emergency Response projects.
11. Get familiar and follow Mercy Corps Program Management Minimum Standards.
12. Ensure documentation and filing of project activities in compliance with Mercy Corps policies and procedures.
13. Provide written and oral translation, and organization support for visits and delegations, as necessary.
14. Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
15. Other duties as assigned.
